the nanny (and wallyball and odd phrases)

so, the nanny...HIS name is sam. he is the brother of one of my classmates and came with her family to watch tom (4yrs) and joshua (1 and 1/2 yrs). they are from the u.k. he seemed a bit dodgey ;-) to start but is really quite a good egg. he does a great job keeping tom and joshua entertained while we are in class all day and then keeping the rest of us entertained when we are out of class. =) he has great charisma coupled with a wicked sense of humor (and of course that fab british accent). he also has a great heart which comes thru in just about everything he does like making sure those who do not want to be left alone are not and holding doors and including everyone in just about everything. lest he get a swelled head from reading this, he does tend to be a bit bossy (maybe it is from working with kids but i don't need managing! hehe).

wallyball (and parudo). wallyball is volleyball played in a raquetball court. you can play off of all the walls except the opponents' back wall/ceiling. it seemed a bit sketchy to me when i heard about it but it is so much fun. i've even continued to play despite an injury to my thumb on saturday night when one of daniel's wicked serves bounced off the back wall to bend my nail halfway back. when we aren't playing wallyball, we're often in the family dorm playing any number of other games...speed scrabble, nertz, farkel, parudo or others. this game is a dice game sam taught us and while fun i'm quite sure i still really don't know what i'm doing.

odd phrases....so nobody here seemed to know what a good egg was. emily and i actually discssed not this particular phrase but some of the random phrases of animal names we use to discuss people...old goat, odd duck, cool cat, strange bird, eating like a pig, etc. so where did that phrase come from (specifically good egg in this instance) check out the following link here but the main website is www.phrases.org.uk (always good if you're looking for a phrase origin).
